Empowering platform for talented women to explore, excel, and lead ground-breaking initiatives.

The Barclays Grace Hopper recruitment page is designed to attract and engage top talent by highlighting opportunities and experiences available at Barclays for women in technology. The page aligns with Barclays’ commitment to diversity and inclusion, celebrating the achievements of women in tech and providing a platform for potential candidates to learn more about the company’s initiatives and opportunities.

The problem

The problem was to design a user-centric page that effectively communicated Barclays’ commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly for women in technology. In this project, my role as a product designer involved creating a dedicated recruitment page for Barclays, focusing on their participation in the Grace Hopper Celebration.

What I did

  • Developed an intuitive and visually appealing layout that ensures ease of navigation across various devices.
  • Strategised and implemented content that highlights the Grace Hopper Celebration, showcases job opportunities, and features employee testimonials.
  • Ensured the page maintained Barclays’ brand identity and aligned with the company’s values on diversity.

Research and insights

  • Women in technology are looking for companies that actively support diversity and offer career advancement opportunities. They value detailed information about company culture and employee experiences.
  •  Engaging visuals and clear, compelling calls to action are crucial for capturing interest and driving conversions.
  • The page needed to be fully responsive and optimized for both desktop and mobile users to accommodate a wide range of devices.

The impact

  • The page saw higher user engagement metrics, including longer time spent on the site and more interaction with content.
  • There was a noticeable increase in applications for technology roles at Barclays, indicating the page’s success in attracting high-quality candidates.
  • Both users and internal stakeholders praised the design, highlighting its effectiveness in communicating Barclays’ values and providing a user-friendly experience.

Lessons learned

  • Conducting thorough user research and incorporating diverse feedback is essential for creating inclusive and resonant designs.
  • Finding the right balance between providing comprehensive information and maintaining a clean, user-friendly layout is critical. Clear visual hierarchy can help manage this balance.
  • Ongoing monitoring and feedback integration are crucial for refining the design and ensuring it continues to meet user needs and business goals.
